Six years after their comeback to the stage, Gang of Four are about to complete the resurrection process with the release of their first album featuring new material (the previous one, “Return the Gift” (V2, 2005), contained only old songs) in sixteen years. We’ve told you how the band resorted to Pledge Music to fund their new album, “Content”. Among the catalogue the band has put together to reward their investor-fans, there was one item in particular that caught our attention: “Ultimate Content Can” is limited to 500 numbered and signed copies, and will include as a bonus vials of blood samples from the band members. It seems like these veterans of post-punk, with funk influences and lyrics aligned to social realism, have taken a liking to exploiting their veins. It’s been announced that, along with the CD and vinyl releases, “Ultimate Content Can” (a special edition including “ the new album on CD, the blood samples, a book of lyrics, a book with rotoscoped photographs of the band’s emotions, a scratch and sniff booklet which reflects the key areas of human activity and a book version of an art piece King and Gill have done on ceramic tiles”) will also be distributed via all the normal channels. The album drops on 25th January through Yep Roc Records.
