Blend the early The Cure, For Against, the slender apprentice Morrissey, the Joy Division from “ Disorder” and current bands like Beach Fossils, plus some dark minimal wave bands, and the result will be something similar to Frank(just Frank). The Parisian duo (based in, over their history, locations including New Jersey and London) subscribe to the neo cold-wave and are about to release their debut album through the New York label Wierd Records. It pulls in Jangly guitars, old rhythm boxes, cold-hearted synths and a book of notes about the tension of opposites (the political left and right, darkness and light, personal privacy against public dimension, etc...). Chris and Kirti have recorded just short of a dozen nostalgic songs that Wierd will distribute from 6th July. This is how the V ague Froide Moderne sounds in 2010.
