Pop Massacre!

FoF Pop Massacre!

This is about cutting up. Not bodies but super famous songs of other people. With the approaching holidays in mind, the people of the LA label Friends of Friends have gathered their allies to massacre thirteen hit singles from yesterday and today, almost all of them pop, although there are a couple of new jack swing gems in there ( “I Want Her” by Keith Sweat) and examples of new materialist rap like Soulja Boy (his “Pretty Boy Swag”) and Supa Blanco ( “I Bet I Do”). Craftsmen of beats and tangent electronica like Daedelus, Shlohmo, Anenon and Strangeloop, almost all of them associated with the Angelino beat scene, have skewed to the point of becoming unrecognisable some very well known songs by the Spice Girls, Beach Boys, Lady Gaga, Abba and Katy Perry. The results are provocative. You can download it in exchange for your email address here.
