The Mapping of Countries Yet to Come

Flying Lotus + Miwa Matreyek The Mapping of Countries Yet to Come With “The Golden Age Of Apocalypse” just out, the album by his mate Thundercat ( Flying Lotus produced it, listen to it here), the boss of Brainfeeder is already working on another collaborative project. FlyLo teamed up with multimedia artist Miwa Matreyek for a project called The Mapping of Countries Yet To Come. The artists “find inspiration and direct sampling of northeast Los Angeles' imagery and sounds” on a piece to “celebrate the present communities surrounding Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock. That cultural centre will host the premiere of the piece in June 2012. Matreyek will then develop an interactive animated work based on her own choreographed movements. FlyLo will make a soundtrack for the film, inspired by real sounds from that part of California. The couple brought their project to Kickstarter for financing. You can contribute to its materialisation, too, donating any amount of money between 10 and 1,000 American dollars, in exchange for different rewards. On 30th November, the Kickstarter deadline, the County Arts Commission of Los Angeles will concede a grant to the project which equals the amount raised privately.
