In March, we shared “Safety Dance” with you, one of the three unreleased instrumentals J.Rocc recovered from the great J Dilla’s personal archive with regards to “ Donut Shop ”, a collaboration between Stones Throw and Serato which resulted in some very desirable goodies. Like we said that day, everything on “Donut Shop” can be seen here: gatefold sleeve; two slipmats with dunkin' donuts-style graphics; and two vinyl records including audio on one side (six tracks in total: three previously unreleased instrumentals and three other instrumental version of productions by the Detroit magician for Mos Def, Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes), and time codes for their use with Serato Scratch Live on the other side. This hybrid release is still available on the Stones Throw website, something that didn’t stop Peanut Butter Wolf from giving away the download of those six tracks off “Donut Shop” as a way of saying thanks for the great reception of the release. Normally, you’d have to be subscribed to Stones Throw’s newsletter to access to the download. If you haven’t got time for that now, click here.
