Scott Monteith, alias Deadbeat, joins the ranks of electronica producers going DIY. After more than ten years working with some of the most prestigious labels of the electronica planet (among which, ~scape, Wagon Repair, Echochord and Intr_version), the Berlin based Canadian producer announces the creation of BLRKTZ, in part created because of the end of ~scape. In the words of Scott himself: “Though I hadn’t worked with them in a few years, I always saw ~scape as the natural home for a very important part of my work.” Deadbeat will kick off the BLRKTZ catalogue with “Drawn & Quartered”, his first album since 2008. For his live sets, Monteith has teamed up with visual artist Lillevan to create an immersive audiovisual show that promises to impress anyone seeing it. If you would like to be among the first to do so, you’ll have to go to the Canadian Mutek festival, where the couple will make their official live debut. The album will be in stores on 20th June and will be distributed worldwide by Kompakt.
