David Sylvian

David SylvianA year after the release of “Manafon” (Samadhisound, 2009), his most decisive step to date towards silence (as the raw material for his creation of sounds) and lawless music (free electro-acoustic improvisation), the always adventurous David Sylvian has gathered together on one volume some of his most celebrated pieces in collaboration with others. These fruits have been yielded across a decade of solo projects, and include Nine Horses, the venture Sylvia shares with Burnt Friedman and Steve Jansen, and his recurring associations with musicians like Ryuichi Sakamoto, Fennesz, Jan Bang, Erik Honoré, Arve Henriksen and the classic music composer Dai Fujikura, with whom Sylvian is working now on an orchestral reinterpretation of “Manafon”, to be released early next year together with new compositions inspired by the album’s central theme. From among his extensive list of collaborations, Sylvian has selected, remixed and remastered a total of 16 cuts (one of them, “Five Lines”, is previously unreleased), to make up an album entitled “Sleepwalkers”, which will be released on 27th September through Samadhisound. You can read more about the album and listen to fragments of all the songs here. David Sylvian - “Sleepwalkers”01. Sleepwalkers 02. Money For All 03. Ballad of a Deadman 04. Angels 05.
