Not long ago we wrote about the strange world of Stalker and mentioned Tri Angle to you. The new label, founded by Robin Carolan (who writes for 20 Jazz Funk Greats), specialises in reflecting the dark and esoteric world of a new scene of “enchanted” bands, which are referred to by some as witch house or drag. Yesterday, via dis, Carolan released his latest reference: a mixtape compiling “drag” versions by people like Oneohtrix Point Never, Babe Rainbow, Autre Ne Veut and oOoOO, which, in line with the Tri Angle agenda, are all inspired by Lindsay Lohan. The actress, who also sings, is currently is doing time in a Californian prison for violating parole after being sentenced for drunk driving in 2007. Carolan says, the release is “inspired in part by Lindsay’s grotesquely fascinating black hole existence and in part by my unwavering belief in the power of pop music as an artform, I saw an opportunity to create something interesting with her music, and decided to ask some friends to reinterpret some of Lindsay’s songs.” The result is “Tri Angle Records Presents: Let Me Shine for You”, a compilation which is downloadable here.
