Three singles in more than two years, that’s what New Yorkers Crystal Stilts have released since they their acclaimed debut album “Alight Of Night” (Slumberland, 2008). That record, an early example of that new wave of lo-fi effervescence still ruling the streets and bars of Brooklyn, will get a follow-up come April. The second album of Brad Hargett, JB Townsend and company will be called “In Love With Oblivion”. Little more is known about the album yet, except that it promises to be “bigger and more expansive”, sound-wise. In early March, “Through the Floor” will come out, as the first official single from the record. In the meantime we’ll have to make do with “Shake the Shackles”, a track featuring the influences of sixties west coast pop and garage, reminiscent of the Paisley Underground scene from the eighties that gave us bands like Green On Red and Dream Syndicate. It seems that that’s the direction of “In Love With Oblivion”. Look for it in stores as from 11th April in Europe (on Fortuna POP!) or 12th April in North America (via Slumberland).
