Dubstep crossed the Atlantic a long time ago to impose itself as one of the most generalised musical phenomena of last year on the North American club scene. The (tardy) reply to Mad Decent was the first volume of the “Blow Your Head” series, an album on which boss Diplo made his taste and preferences clear in regard to dubstep and its associated sounds. Now, “Blow Your Head” looks at another of the styles that, in spite of its short life so far, has been making waves in the clubs and on music blogs interested in the least polished versions of dance music. Moombtahon, that mix of slowed-down vuvuzela house and reggaetonesque grooves, will be the star of “Blow Your Head Vol. 2”. It will feature 15 tracks, selected by instigator of the genre, Dave Nada, from past, present and future of moombahton. Munchi, one of the most prolific producers and a key figure in the “movement”, South Rakkas Crew and Diplo himself share the credits with other new students of the school on the compilation, which will be released on 31st May. Here we leave you with a mini mix to work up an appetite. If you like what you hear, you can pre-order a copy of the album here.
