Mount Wittenberg Orca

Björk + Dirty ProjectorsTheir paths crossed for the first time back in May last year on a charity show put on by Stereogum. Dave Longstreth and Björk not only agreed to perform, they also wrote some songs especially for the occasion that now, over a year later, and conveniently recorded at Brooklyn’s Rare Book Room studios, the seven track EP titled “Mount Wittenberg Orca” is about to be released. It’s said to be inspired by whale spotting from the top of Mount Wittenberg, north of San Francisco. Longstreth told Stereogum: “I wrote some songs about it and sent them to Björk, who agreed to sing the part of the mom whale. The songs became Mount Wittenberg Orca. Amber and Angel and Haley sang the part of the kid whales, and I sang the part of Amber. We sang all week long and learned the music just in time to perform it at the bookstore on 8th May.”

The EP, available from 30th June, will be a charity record too: all profits from its sale will benefit the National Geographic Society in order to create globally conservation marine areas. Pre-order it at the end of this thread. Björk + Dirty Projectors - “Mount Wittenberg Orca”
