It’s not all good news from the world of Beastie Boys (although he’s feeling better, Adam Yauch is still battling cancer), but even so, they have reasons to celebrate. In December we heard that Yauch himself was directing a short film inspired by the video of the band’s classic “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)”. The short film, about to be released at the Sundance Film Festival, is a continuation, or sequel, to the clip. According to MCA, his film tells us what happens after the boys leave the party. Thanks to the film’s page on the Sundance website we know that Hollywood stars Elijah Wood, Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly play a part in “Fight for Your Right Revisited”. Now, thanks to the people of Consequence of Sound (who first found the film page on IMDB), we know that the cast of the Beastie Boys short film goes way beyond that. The film has the cast of a super production. According to IMDB, the Beastie Boys themselves appear in two different ways: Seth Rogen and John C. Reilly play Mike D, Will Ferrell and Elijah Wood play Ad-Rock and Danny McBride and Jack Black play the role of MCA. Alongside them are celebrities like Susan Sarandon, Steve Buscemi, Ted Danson, Stanley Tucci, Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, Alicia Silverstone, Chloë Sevigny and the three members of Beastie Boys, playing the roles from their “Sabotage” video. The expression “star-studded” doesn’t even cover it. We hope to see the film soon on European screens.
