Only two weeks have passed since the release of the brilliant “Before Today” (4AD, 2010), and there is already more news from the prolific Ariel Pink. At the beginning of the year, (it’s unclear whether this was before or after the completion of the new album for 4AD), the Californian magician of obtuse lo-fi pop made the most of his stay in Dallas to record some tracks in collaboration with Added Pizzazz, the alias used by jazz musicians Jim Lehnert (sax, trombone, farfisa), Dennis Gonzaléz (trumpet), Aaron Gonzaléz (bass, double-bass and cymbals played with a bow) and Stefan Gonzaléz (drums, vibraphone) - the last of whom are two brothers in arms and artisans from Yells At Eels. The result of those sessions will be released as an EP around 9th July through the young label Free Dope and Fucking in the Streets. In the first instance, the physical format EP will only be available at the live shows from Ariel Pink’s tour, which this week stops in two Spanish and two Portuguese cities.
