Arcade Fire

In the hands of Terry Gilliam

Arcade Fire

In the end the rumours didn’t turn out to be completely true. Although from early April it’s been common knowledge that Spike Jonze and Arcade Fire are doing something together (a source close to Jonze confirmed at the time that one of the director’s future plans was to travel to Austin to shoot a short film with Win Butler’s band), it won’t be the maker of “Being John Malkovich” who will be in charge of the realisation of the webcast the Canadians are planning on 5th August (from 10pm EST) from Madison Square Garden in New York. Yesterday it was announced that the YouTube broadcast will be in the capable hands of nonthe other than Terry Gilliam, the former Monty Python and director of such acclaimed films as “12 Monkeys” and “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”. Furthermore, Associated Press have informed us that the webcast will serve to premiere “Unstaged”, a series of online concerts sponsored by American Express, which will soon continue with a gig by John Legend and The Roots presenting their album Wake Up !” Other artists taking part in “Unstaged” will be confirmed soon.
