It might seem a vague resource and too recurrent, but the thing is that the comparison is inevitable. Look for the player below and listen to “Towards The Sun”, the title track of Alexi Murdoch’s new album. You’ll think of the best side of Nick Drake, just as we did. It’s one of the basic coordinates for placing the soft and intimate folk-pop full of circular guitars and timid arrangements by this travelling London singer-songwriter. Four years after making his debut with “Time Without Consequence” (Zero Summer, 2006), Murdoch returns on City Slang to give us his second album, which, according to the label, was mostly recorded during one night two years ago, taking advantage of the inspiration that came to Murdoch when he was in Vancouver on one of his North American tours. Months afterwards, back in New York, members of Beirut and The National helped Murdoch finish the recorded songs. The results will be released on City Slang on 28th March.
