Two months from its celebration, Unsound Krakow continues to add new names to the already rather attractive bill of its tenth edition, revolving around the idea of “THE END”. The new batch of confirmations puts the focus on North America, stressing the link of the Polish festival with Unsound New York.
Among the specially commissioned projects we find Interplanetary Prophets, the live collaboration between Hieroglyphic Being (who will also perform a solo set) and Ital. Also exclusive is reputed digger Andy Votel presenting Kleksploitation, which pays tribute to 'Plan Kleks', a triptych of Polish films for children featuring music by Andrzej Korzynski, whose catalogue is being released on Votel's label Finders Keepers.
In the club field, Unsound confirmed the presence of Shed (who will be presenting his recent “The Killer” for 50 Weapons), Empyset (who will play with visuals by Anti VJ), and Oneman. Teengirl Fantasy will be performing in Krakow as well, presenting their recently released “Tracer” (R&S, 2012), one of the important records of the second half of 2012. Matthew Mondanile, alias Ducktails, will be sharing an evening with Nick Weiss and Logan Takahashi.
The rest of the confirmations are set in a series of special events hosted by labels the Unsound team admire. For instance, Julia Holter and Holly Herndon will be in Krakow under the name of Rvng Intl.; the rugged and dark world of Blackest Ever Black will be represented by Vatican Shadow and Black Rain, Stuart Argabright's post-industrial combo presenting material from “Now I'm Just A Number” and some pieces developed in collaboration with Ukrainian artist Kotra for the past edition of Unsound New York. Vessel (presenting his upcoming album “Order Of Noise”) and Evian Christ will carry the torch for Tri Angle; Fatima Al Qadiri will do the same for UNO NY; in the meantime, Spectrum Spools and its psychedelic and cosmic electronica will be represented by Container and Bee Mask.
Closing the series of special collaborations with experimental labels, we have to mention PAN, who will do a showcase in collaboration with the Berlin CTM Festival (Club Transmediale). Heatsick will present 'Extended Play', a three-hour set executed with the sole aid of a Casio keyboard and a fistful of effects. The evening will be completed with the electronic explorations of Japanese artist NHK' Koyxen, the electro-acoustic soundscapes of Helm and saxophonist Ben Vida, the bassy dance rhythms of Bass Clef and a DJ set by label boss Bill Kouligas, connecting the dots between the world of experimental and electronic club music.
