On Sunday the 10th, the activities will move to other locations in the city. Another two dozen names must be added to the 25 names confirmed to date. The presence of The Flaming Lips, who will give a special show, and Rufus Wainwright, who will come to present his most pop album in years, stand out. Atlas Sound, The Rapture, Black Lips, Lee Ranaldo, Saint Etienne, Yann Tiersen, Shellac, The War On Drugs, Wavves, I Break Horses, Sleepy Sun, Death Grips, Thee Oh Sees, Baxter Dury, Tall Firs and Tennis have also been announced. Electronic will have its own weight at the event, as besides the already-announced showcase of the label Numbers, Erol Alkan, James Ferraro, Forest Swords, Demdike Stare and John Talabot will also be there. The Barcelona performer won’t be the only Spaniard, as Bigott, Mujeres and Esperit! will also be there. And of course there will also be Portuguese groups: Gala Drop and WE TRUST. In coming weeks more bands from the peninsula will be named (both Spanish and Portuguese).
At the press conference, the four stages that will be used on the 7, 8, and 9th of June in Parque da Cidade were also mentioned. The main stage will be called Optimus, and it will hold the big performances, along with the Primavera stage. There will be an ATP stage, commissioned by promoter All Tomorrow’s Parties, and a fourth space to hold the performances of emerging artists, which will also be the stage for dance music, which will be playing until the wee hours. It has also been revealed that they will make a special effort in terms of the aesthetics of the grounds. Artist João Paulo Feliciano has been commissioned to handle the sets and artistic direction of this first-time event. The aim is to provide a differentiating factor by making aesthetics one of the main features of this Optimus Primavera Sound.
