Ten bright candles. That is how many they will be blowing out from the 15th to 17th June at the London festival Lovebox, to be held in Hackney’s Victoria Park. As usual, the roster, practically closed— unless the organisation surprises us with some other last- minute choices—looks to be long and eclectic.
Among the names drawing the biggest crowds in the indie world are Hot Chip, Friendly Fires, James Murphy, Grace Jones, The Rapture, Little Dragon and Kelis. There are also newcomers like Azealia Banks, Lana Del Rey and Niki & The Dove. But the strong point of the festival is its offerings of electronic music. Ben UFO, Brackles, Dauwd, Lapalux, Pangaea, Skrean, Joy Orbison, DJ Hell... will all be at Lovebox 2012. There will also be a space promoted by Rinse FM where Magnetic Man, Roska or Zinc can be seen; another run by Digital Soundboy with the presence of Rusko and Toddla T; and a third under the auspices of Crosstown Rebels, which will bring Art Department and Damian Lazarus, among many other names, all of which you can discover by checking out the festival’s line-up. Get your ticket before they sell out.
