James Murphy doesn’t seem to miss his days as the undeniable leader of LCD Soundsystem. If his shop, his brand of coffee and his novel weren’t enough, now we know that the New Yorker also has film projects underway. Murphy is going to direct his first short film with the support of filmmaker Ron Howard, no less. The director of “A Beautiful Mind”, in charge of promoting Canon’s Project Imagination initiative, is seeking to promote this new photography contest by acting as a mentor for various figures, who will have to film their own short film, inspired by some of the photos entered into the contest. “I'm in this absurdly privileged spot by being in a band but not so famous that it makes me feel weird”, said Murphy to Rolling Stone, about what he considers to be one of the best moments of his life. “ After those 10 years with the band, I wanted to go back to that state of trying things and just seeing what happens. It's exciting,” he added. The artist also took advantage of the opportunity to confirm that he has been working on a couple of songs with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
