As you'll know, if you're a Jeff Buckley fan, several film projects around the figure of the unfortunate singer have been in the making for years, but not without problems. There is an official biopic, with the blessing of Jeff's mother and those managing his legacy. Reeve Carney is playing young Buckley in that film, for which the singer's songs can be used. But there's another picture about the maker of “Grace”, inspired by a passage from the book “Dream Brother: The Lives and Music of Jeff and Tim Buckley”, which focuses on Jeff's participation in a tribute concert for the father who walked out on him as a child. That way, the makers of “Greetings From Tim Buckley” deal with the fact that they are not allowed to use Jeff Buckley's music in the film, even though he's the indisputable star.
In this second film, premiered at the past Toronto International Film Festival, the role of Jeff Buckley is for Penn Badgly, known for his work in “Gossip Girl”. He may not look much like Jeff Buckley, but this video clearly shows that Badgly has a great voice, and he loves Buckley's songs. Here we leave you with the trailer for “Greetings From Tim Buckley”.
