Those who have read descriptions of some of Cat Power’s recent concerts in the United States will have run into contrasting opinions. Depending on the night and the person, some say that they have seen an unvarnished show worthy of praise, while others claim to have felt uncomfortable in the presence of a lacerated, emotionally unstable Chan Marshall, who seemed about to keel over in the middle of the concert. Many of these descriptions coincide in one thing: the artist’s strange stage presence, starting with her new look, and continuing with her lost-looking gestures. Well, Marshall herself has just recognised her problems, calling her already-announced European tour into question; it was supposed to have brought her to Spain at the beginning of December, within the framework of the Primavera Club.
Yesterday, the singer posted a photo on Instagram along with a note that we have copied for you below:
“I MAY HAVE TO CANCEL MY EUROPEAN TOUR DUE TO BANKRUPTCY & MY HEALTH STRUGGLE WITH ANGIOEDEMA. I HAVE NOT THROWN IN ANY TOWEL, I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT BEST I CAN DO. HEART BROKEN. WORKED SO HARD. GOT SICK DAY AFTER "SUN" CAME OUT & BEEN STRUGGLING TO KEEP ALL POINTS OF ME IN EQUILIBRIUM : MIND, SPIRIT, BODY HEALTHY, CENTERED & GROUNDED. I AM DOING THE BEST I CAN. I FUCKING LOVE THIS PLANET. I REFUSE TO GIVE UP. THOUGH I MAY NEED TO RESTRATAGIZE FOR MY SECURITY & HEALTH.”
To the right of these lines, we leave you the dates of the European tour that may not take place.
