Maybe to return the favour, Robin Pecknold, singer of Fleet Foxes, will compose the soundtrack for brother Sean (who has directed several of the band’s videos) and Matt Daniels’ new film. It is called “The Internet – A Blog Cats WTF Universe” and it will be about the existential crisis undergone by “one of the best LOLCat caption writers in the world”. In case there is some poor uninformed soul out there who has no idea what we are talking about, or who just can’t believe these words: yes, this is a film inspired by the LOLcats meme, those images of cats accompanied by a subjectively humorous text consciously written incorrectly. For this project they have started a Kickstarter campaign to raise 15,000 dollars for the post-production. They have until 3rd June, and they have already got 3,264 dollars, so if you like this unique, original idea, you can add your grain of sand by contributing however much you see fit (as you know, depending on your contribution, your return will vary).
The story of the film, which will try to find an answer to some of humanity’s essential questions: “Why are we here? Who or what is God? Where were you before you were born? What is the impact of technology on our minds and souls? Where does the universe end, end, end?”,
was thought up over the course of three days in a bar in Berlin. The directors have chosen to mix real images with drawings and 3D animation. We leave you with the trailer underneath these lines.
