Any Kraftwerk fan worth his salt will know what a splash their presence made last April at New York’s MoMA. New York’s Museum of Modern Art dedicated eight special evenings to the legendary group. Each night, Kraftwerk performed one of their last eight albums accompanied by 3D shows created for the occasion. In view of the success of the event, the authors of “The Man-Machine” will repeat the experience this coming January in the city of Düsseldorf.
Between 11th and 20th January, the K20 Grabbe Halle, a space belonging to Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, will house a series of eight concerts, titled “Der Katalog – 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8”, in which Kraftwerk will perform their albums “Autobahn” (1974), “Radio-Activity” (1975), “Trans-Europe Express” (1977), “The Man-Machine” (1978), “Computer World” (1981), “Techno Pop” (1986), “The Mix” (1991), and “Tour De France Soundtracks” (2003) in chronological order.
The series will be accompanied by a sample of photographic work about Kraftwerk by Peter Boettcher, who has been documenting the band for over two decades. The exhibit can be visited from 12th to 30th January at Düsseldorf’s NRW-Forum.
