Yesterday in Ottawa was the ceremony of the 41st Juno Awards, given each year to the best performers chosen by the Canadian music industry. But the night before the ceremony, some of the awards that most interested us were already given out. In addition to Arkells’ victory as Best Group of the Year - and Dan Mangan for Best Alternative Album of the Year for “Oh Fortune” - The Sheepdogs came away with two awards, in the categories of Best New Group and Best Rock Album “Learn & Burn”. Leslie Feist was also a double winner, taking home the awards for the Best Adult Alternative Album for “Metals” and the Musical DVD of the Season for “Look At What The Light Did Now”.
Tim Hecker and “ Ravedeath, 1972” (Kranky, 2011) were declared the winners in the electronic section, while Drake took home the award for Best Rap Album for “ Take Care” (Young Money/Universal, 2011). Adele, who must not have anywhere left to put all of the awards she has won over the incredible last year, won the award for the Best International Album for her highly acclaimed “21”. You can check out the rest of the winners at the end of this line.
