The Roland TR-808 is a key element in the history of music. From the dawn of hip hop till now, the well-known drum-machine has played a key role in the evolution of genres of dance music. And if anyone is aware of this relevance, it is Arthur Baker, the father of Afrika Bambaata’s “ Planet Rock”. This is why he has become the producer of a promising documentary, directed by Alex Dunn, which renders homage to the piece of equipment that has the largest number of fans in electronic music. Various guests appear in “Planet Rock And Other Tales Of The 808”, voices that narrate and provide ideas to give shape to those "tales of the 808" promised by the title. Among these voices we’ll find Felix Da Housecat, Todd Terry, Questlove, New Order, Fatboy Slim, Diplo, A-Trak, Toddla T, Soul Clap and the strange presence of Skrillex. We’ll have to wait until 2013 to enjoy the documentary, but one can already see (and dance to) the first teaser.
