Aphex Twin

New unreleased live material

With the alarmingly low output of Richard D. James (alias Aphex Twin) in mind, please allow us to get extremely excited about any news regarding new sounds from the Cornwall genius. The Rephlex boss presented some new music last Saturday at the European Culture Congress in Breslavia, Poland. The British magician played out his reconstructions of “ Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima” and “Polymorphia” for the first time, two of the most innovative pieces by Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki. For now, there are no indications about a possible official release of the reworks, so we'll have to make do with the recordings made by the audience at the gig. Aphex Twin will be performing in Poland again this week, this time at the Sacrum Profanum Festival and as part of the Reich 75 project; a stellar combo that will play some of the compositions of the master of minimalism. The group, led by Steve Reich himself, also features Tom Verlaine (Television), Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Will Gregory (Goldfrapp), among others. All that, this Saturday in Krakow. Get your low-cost flights and go.
