Tri Angle Records is an American label founded in 2010 and directed by Robin Carolan, one of the collaborators on the influential blog 20 Jazz Funk Greats, after discovering the music of Alec Koone (Balam Acab) on MySpace. The platform specialises in dark and vaporous electronic music, dubbed drag or witch-house. The first release on Tri Angle was a compilation tribute to Lindsay Lohan, on which artists like Laurel Halo, Autre Ne Veut, oOoOO and Oneohtrix Point Never did cover versions of tracks by the American actress and singer. The compilation, however, was only released on digital and CD-R. The first physical release was Balam Acab's debut EP, “See Birds”, released in 2010. That same year, the label signed San Francisco project oOoOO. With these three releases only, Tri Angle became one of the labels of the year.
Early 2011, they reissued the debut album by How To Dress Well, originally released on Lefse. That year, EPs by Holy Other, Clams Casino and Ayshay also came out, alongside the two first albums on the imprint: “Wander / Wonder”, by Balam Acab, and “Harbored Mantras”, by Water Borders. In 2012, Tri Angles announced an EP by Vessel and the debut by Carolan as a producer, under the alias Lie.
