Hippos In Tanks is a label created in 2010 by Barron Machat and Travis Woolsey. They specialise in experimental electronica, and are, as they put it, “a taskforce dedicated to innovative solutions in modern music”. They soon became one of the key platforms for the most restless music fans. In their first year alone they released a 7-inch, a much acclaimed EP by Games (who would later rename themselves Ford & Lopatin), an album by D’Eon and had introduced the world to Laurel Halo and White Car. It is the record label to keep an eye on when it comes to hypnagogic music. 2011 was an especially productive year for them, with the new Hype Williams album, “One Nation”, a few releases by the mythical James Ferraro and the split release by Grimes and D’eon.
