Captured Tracks is a Brooklyn label started in 2008 by Mike Sniper from Blank Dogs. The labels objective is to serve as a platform for new bands – who they discover via demos and concerts. Although in 2009, they released about 30 records, 2010 was without a doubt their big year, with releases by bands like Wild Nothing, Beach Fossils, Veronica Falls, Minks and The Soft Moon. Their trademark features include their love of vinyl (they release many 7-inches and most of their releases are in limited editions) and of vintage bands. They have released a compilation of the early singles by The Monochrome Set, paid tribute to the legacy of The Wake and have started the series “Shoegaze Archives” - with which they wish to vindicate near forgotten bands like Medicine and Should. Thanks to all this, Captured Tracks has become one of the big cult labels of the moment.
