The creative universe of a true artist is always in expansion, and Burial is in that line right now: advancing step by step towards unknown horizons. The newest is always the best, because it is unexpected material. I understand that there have been some wonderful albums, but what he has done with “Kindred EP” is twist the screw even tighter on his sound, amplifying its emotional impact. I will always love “Untrue,” but this new EP really knocked me out.
I’m not a big fan of “Kindred EP,” and I will also admit that the first time I listened to it, I was really paralysed. But I remember the feeling I had when I heard “Archangel” for the first time, and later all of “Untrue,” which almost left me crying, and I don’t think that that will ever happen again. It is one of the albums that define modern electronic music, it expanded dubstep beyond its limits—it was a unique, unrepeatable moment.
