One of the big albums (at least, on paper) of this summer is about to be released. Next Monday, 4AD will release “Confess”, the second full-length by Twin Shadow, and now we can stream the album, a week before its release. A quick listen taught us that George Lewis Jr. hasn't changed his sound one bit, probably honouring the slogan 'never change a winning team'. So we're dealing with a new love letter to the sophisticated synth-pop of the 80s. Now we have to decide whether or not it was a good idea to not put Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear) at the helm and do everything himself, if the record turned out good and the songs are as catchy as those on his first. For now, our favourites are “Run My Heart”, “Golden Light”, and “Five Seconds”.
