Listen to Neneh Cherry's Cover Album

“The Cherry Thing” was recorded with free-jazz trio The Thing

After a few years of strict silence, Neneh Cherry is back, and she's back good, with Swedish/Norwegian free-jazz trio The Thing. This unusual combination started in March 2011, when both parties coincided on stage in Stockholm. On 18th June, Smalltown Supersound will release The Cherry Thing”, which we can now listen to online, courtesy of NPR. It's an album of covers, of track by bands like The Stooges, Martina Topley-Bird, MF Doom and Suicide, a daring effort, not very commercial, and probably scaring off those who were looking forward to a few more buffalo stances.
