Next week “Steam Days”, Nathan Fake’s third album for Border Community, will be out. It’s an album where the Brit merges the coordinates of his two previous works to create the album that probably best crystallises all of the edges of his musical vision. Its perspective remains anchored in emotional, bucolic techno, full of references to his native Norfolk and nourished by his characteristic gliding melodies. It is also a highly nostalgic work, which acts as a sort of diary of the emotional turbulence experienced by Fake over the last two years. Feelings slip in through the pores of the warm analogue textures and remind us of how easily the producer can touch our heartstrings or make our souls shudder.
