With his “Spooky Action At A Distance” out on Kranky, Lotus Plaza (otherwise known as Deerhunter guitarist Lockett Pundt) is offering up the stream for his new LP on Dutch portal 3voor12. The piece features a brighter sound than his main project, with tracks like “Monoliths”, a happy piece of music with a huge melody and great backing vocals. What we already suspected after the first advance tracks is confirmed here: Pundt has grown quite a bit since his first album, “The Floodlight Collective” (Kranky, 2009), and, instead of opting for a sparse and experimental repertoire, he's delivering some accessible and poppy songs, with an occasional sidestep to Kraut-rock, psychedelia and ambient drone.
