Dirty Projectors Invite You To Hear Their New Album, “Swing Lo Magellan”

And there's a new trailer for “Hi Custodian”, a David Longstreth directed short film

On Monday, Domino will release the follow-up to one of the best albums of 2009 (“Bitte Orca”), Dirty Projectors' “Swing Lo Magellan”, and the album can now be streamed online in its entirety. The record features all the main trademark band sounds: outbursts of sharp guitars, complex percussion, beautiful arrangements without becoming baroque, angelic vocals (even though Angel Deradoorian is no longer there), and much warmth. Nevertheless, it's radically different from their previous album, as David Longstreth sings some lyrics that seem more personal, in songs that get close to folk at times.

At the same time, the band released a second, more extensive trailer for “Hi Custodian”, the short film directed by Longstreth and starring all the band members. In the film you can hear fragments of the first two tracks on the album, “Offspring Are Blank” and “About To Die”. Watch it below.
