They’ve been playing hard to get with us, but Niki & The Dove were clear that they didn’t want their debut LP to be just any old thing. So the Swedish duo took the icier beats of Fever Ray and the vocal melodrama of Björk and her spiritual heirs, to bring us “Instinct”; eleven songs full of emotional chiaroscuros in which their irresistible melodies prevail above all else. Without turning their backs on songs from their first known repertoire, “Dj, Ease My Mind” or “The Fox” for example, Malin Dahlström and Gustaf Karlöf bring us one of the most addictive pop artefacts of the season.
