A week before its release, Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland, also known as Hype Williams, are offering up the full stream of “Black is Beautiful”. As the first advance tracks already indicated, the duo's new album, due out on 17th April on Hyperdub, is much more varied than its predecessors, enriching their usual crab-walking psychedelic excursions with pinches of pop-rock and eerie R&B. A prime example is their rendition of Donnie & Joe Emerson's “Baby”. Listen to the album here, courtesy of Resident Advisor.
In other news, the duo also teamed up with The Guardian to bring us “The Attitude Era”, a collection of 33 tracks that go from sweet lullabies to metallic noise digressions. There's even a 3-second remix they did, which in its day was rejected, for obvious reasons. Apparently, several tracks on the compilation are leftovers from the sessions for “One Nation” and “The Narcissist”. Click here to download.
