Bobby Womack On XL Recordings

Online streaming of “The Bravest Man In The Universe”

Bobby Womack On XL Recordings | Music News

The news about his health problems (the colon cancer he seems to have beaten) made the anticipation for The Bravest Man In The Universe” even bigger. The album, produced by Damon Albarn and Richard Russell (boss of XL Recordings), and featuring cameos by the likes of Lana del Rey, will be out on 11th June, on XL. A week before its release, the album can already be streamed online, courtesy of NPR. You'll notice that Albarn and Russell wisely chose to keep their own musical input to a minimum (basically, they played keyboards and some electronic beats), leaving the centre stage for Bobby Womack's voice, tremendously flexible and expressive at his 68 years of age. This veteran still has a thing or two to teach us.
