New Names For Unsound New York

The bill of the 2012 edition keeps filling up

New Names For Unsound New York | Music News

The 2012 edition of the New York leg of the Polish Unsound festival has just conformed a second batch of names. Among them are the live performances of Monolake and 2562, grand ladies of contemporary experimentation such as Laurel Halo and Julia Holter, the iconoclast pop of Maria Minerva and Peaking Lights, and the bass sounds of Throwing Snow and Sepalcure, who will do an audiovisual show. They are all added to a bill that features the likes of Demdike Stare, Hype Williams and Ital, among others.

The event organisation also released the first details on the line-up of Unsound LABS, which includes lectures, presentations, workshops and debates, as well as collaborations between artists from all over the planet. Confirmed so far are “Sustained Decay: A Natural History of Bass in Miami”, a lecture by Dave Tompkins, a presentation by Jeremy Grimshaw about La Monte Young, and a debate on “Icon Eye” (the documentary about the collaboration of Sun Araw and M.Geddes Genras with legendary roots reggae band The Congos in Jamaica). The event will take place between 18th and 22nd April at different venues in New York. You can find all of the confirmed artists to the right of this article.

Angels Of Darkness, Demons Of Light II

The Earth universe expands towards unknown territory, more pleasant than their beginnings in doom, but equally risky – somewhere between ambient, comatose chamber music, and mournful blues.
