Until now, whenever there was talk about Vampire Weekend and their creative dynamics, it was always about the same two band members: Ezra Koenig and Rostam Batmanglij. The other two were always in the background. But that's about to change: bassist Chris Baio is getting ready to go out on his own, under the name Baio. He’ll be working on Hot Chip Joe Goddard's label Greco-Roman, which means he'll be venturing into electronic and danceable territory, house, if you like. His “Sunburn EP” is due out on 21st May, holding three tracks, of which one, featuring Matias Aguayo, has now been released as an advance track. “Tanto” is a piece of colourful house with a frenetic twist that sounds rather interesting. Looks like his career as a DJ during his years at university years, pre-Vampire Weekend, has left its mark on Baio.
