If you're one of those people who get the heebie-jeebies whenever the winter holidays are mentioned, and who cherish a profound hatred of Christmas albums, you'd better stop reading. Apparently, former Everything But The Girl member Tracey Thorn has always dreamed of doing a record for the merry season, and on 30th October, her dream will finally come true. “Tinsel And Lights” will come out on Strange Feeling in Europe, and Merge in the United States. The album will feature originals and cover versions of songs by, among others, Sufjan Stevens, The White Stripes, Randy Newman, and Dolly Parton.
“I've always wanted to make a Christmas record. Every year, when the Christmas albums start appearing in November, I get jealous and wish I had one coming out. Last year, I made a resolution to get recording in January to be ready for the following Christmas. And so that's just what I did,” says Thorn about the collection of songs, which aren't just about the holiday season but also about the rest of winter, the cold, and snow. There's no audio yet, but the artwork and tracklist of the much-awaited follow-up to “Love And Its Opposite” (Strange Feeling, 2010) have already been made public.
