Two years have gone by since “Death Gate”, the last solo release by The Gaslamp Killer. Now, the Californian DJ and producer - known for his residency at Low End Theory in the city of angels, and his extravagant movements in the DJ booth - returns with his debut album, “Breakthrough”. It features a host of future beats luminaries, such as Gonjasufi, Adrian Younge, Dimlite, Samiyam, Daedelus, Computer Jay and Dstyles.
"Flange Face", the first advance track, is the fruit of the interaction between The Gaslamp Killer and composer Miguel Atwood Ferguson, who did the strings on Flying Lotus' “Cosmogramma”. It's a brew of wild dubstep and alienating classical sounds, which you can hear exclusively on Pitchkfork. Quite possibly an indication of things to come on the album, due out on 18th September, via Brainfeeder.
