In April, Chan Marshall announced that her new album, “Sun”, was finally finished and that, if everything went well, it would be released on 11th September via Matador. However, in a recent interview with The Stool Pigeon, Cat Power stated the album should come out “later this year”, which could be interpreted as a delay. Or not.
In any case, the most interesting things we learnt from the interview are some revelations about the making of the album. For instance, the fact that - contrary to her previous records - she took control of this one completely, even playing all the instruments herself. “You have a huge responsibility with the things you're trying to create to do your best. There's pressure - not from critics or anything like that, but to do something that means something in your heart. And you wanna do it the way you wanna do it.” For now, the advance track she promised hasn't been released yet.
