Promises are made to be kept. Nico Muhly had planned to put out a trilogy of EPs dedicated to exploring the nature of drone, and he has kept his word. After “Drones & Piano” (released in May) and “Drones & Viola” (released a month ago), now the time has come for “Drones & Violin”. The work, released on the Bedroom Community label, like the others, is already available digitally through the restless American’s Bandcamp. For this EP, which you can listen to in its entirety underneath these lines, Muhly collaborated closely with Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto and Nadia Sirota handled the viola. It was recorded in the Greenhouse studios in Reykjavík with production by Valgeir Sigurðsson.
