Few people knew that Jessica Bailiff was back at work writing songs after having taken several years off. Even the folk at Kranky were surprised when they got a call one day from Bailiff herself asking if they were interested in releasing her (until then) secret fifth studio album. After spending over a month in Europe on tour with Boduf Songs, the Ohio musician shut herself up at home in the summer of 2011 to create this “At the Down-Turned Jagged Rim of the Sky”, mixed by her good friend Odd Nosdam. We will be able to enjoy a total of nine new songs from the American, who, without giving up that solemn, floating noise pop with whispering voices that she is known for, brings a bit more colour and vigour to her compositions this time round. You can already hear a first advance titled “Take Me To The Sun”.
