Domino is releasing the new album by James Yorkston, “I Was A Cat From A Book”, on 13th August. This time, the Scot worked with members of Lamb, The Cinematic Orchestra and other old friends, with Dave Wrench at the helm, recording the LP in five days last winter, in a studio in the north of Wales. According to the label, “It's an album full of energy and great musicianship, and contains James' strongest and most bewildering set of songs yet.” Below you can listen to one of the album tracks, “Catch”.
The album will be out in four different formats: CD, double 10” vinyl (with two exclusive extra tracks: “Thar She Blows” and “Black Horse White”), digital, and a collector's edition featuring the two 10”s in a gatefold sleeve, a download code, the CD, a DVD of Yorkston's gig at the Union Chapel in 2011, an album of remixes by David ‘A’ Jaycock, a printed backgammon board and dice to play on the sleeve, plus three pins. If you pre-order now, they'll also send you a thirty-minute “audio comment” by James Yorkston himself.
