David Byrne And St. Vincent, An Unmarried Couple

4AD announces “Love This Giant”

David Byrne And St. Vincent, An Unmarried Couple | Music News

More than once they expressed their sympathy, respect and love for each other, so it was only a matter of time before they would work together. David Byrne showed up on stage at the Lincoln Center in New York during a special St. Vincent show two years ago, and Annie Clark worked with the former Talking Head on “Every Drop of Rain”, one of the tracks on “Here Lies Love” (2010), the choral album by Byrne and Fatboy Slim about Imelda Marcos. What we didn't know was that the couple have been writing songs together since 2009.

What started as a long-distance exchange of ideas and demos, has now become a full album. “Love This Giant”- recorded over the course of two years at the Water Music studio in Hoboken, New Jersey - holds ten songs by Byrne and Clark, completed with two songs by the two artists on their own. Apparently, a brass section and programmed rhythms play a fundamental role on the album; accordingly the couple will be touring in autumn with a keyboardist and an eight-piece brass band.

The album is due out on 11th September, on 4AD/Todo Mundo. We leave you with the first single, “Who”.
