Craft Spells, the project led by Justin Paul Vallesteros, already have the continuation of their curious debut album, “Idle Labor,” ready to go. On 15th May, their “Gallery EP,” will be arriving in the shops via Captured Tracks, a release containing six new songs. If we pay attention to what their label says, this new work shows an evolution in the band’s sound. Although its central elements continue to be guitars with a shine, synthesizers, and synthetic percussion that looks at itself in the mirror of 80s indie pop, here Vallesteros ventures fearlessly into “the abyss of composition” letting go of any past insecurity and offering greater versatility.
