27th August, International Matthew Herbert Day

Accidental Records marks the celebration by releasing five of the artist’s titles that day

27th August, International Matthew Herbert Day | Music News

Can you imagine getting up on 27th August and finding the whole street decorated in honour of the multifaceted Matthew Herbert? Banners flying from the windows and terraces with his name on them, altars with a photo of him where little ones are leaving offerings to him, his music playing everywhere... That would obviously be going very far. But a lighter version of this hypothesis is what Accidental Records seeks to create this coming 27th August, proclaiming it "Herbert's Day". That day the label will release five different albums by the English musician. We’ll enumerate: a double album full of rarities and pieces that have never previously been released, a new version of "Bodily Functions" with remixes by Dave Aju and Dj Koze, a reissue of "Scale" with orchestral versions and remixes, alongside two special releases with remixes of "Around The House" and "100 Lbs".

But that’s not all of the information that comes to us from Accidental regarding the most restless spirit of high-flying electronica. As we already told you here, Herbert has reclaimed his Wishmountain alias to serve up a new album. "Tesco" will come a little before Matthew Herbert Day, on 6th August. And it will do so along with the digital reissue of "Wishmountain Is Dead" and a 12" with remixes of "Bodily Functions". So if you are a fan of Herbert’s, we only have one thing left to say to you: start saving up.
