It was just a matter of time until Kanye West and Romain Gavras crossed paths. They both share the same taste for provocation and a refined aesthetic sense. And this is precisely what we find in the video for “No Church In The Wild”. In it, the scenes of violence are softened; not because they are measured (not at all), but rather because of the beauty with which they are filmed. It explores the cynicism of established millionaires (part of that most fortunate 1%) tipping their hats to the citizen protests that are sprouting up in practically every corner of the world, purely for show —we’ll talk about that another day.
